Mohammad Raziur Rahman Qasmi is an academic scholar of Shariah, Islamic Studies and Arabic language, currently serving as Assistant Professor at Al Jamia Al Islamiya, Kerala (India). His scholarly formation combines the traditional rigour of classical Islamic scholarship with modern academic education and training in Arabic language and Islamic studies.
Over the past decade and a half, he has developed a distinguished profile as a teacher, researcher, author, polished speaker and public intellectual engaged with both classical Islamic disciplines and contemporary scholarly discourse.
Mr. Razi Qasmi received his foundational education and training in the traditional curriculum of Islamic sciences, culminating in the Fazilat degree from Darul Uloom Deoband, one of the most renowned institutions of Islamic scholarship in the Muslim world. He later pursued advanced specialization (M.A) in Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) and ifta at Al-Ma'had Al-'Aali Al-Islami, Hyderabad. During this period, he also benefited from close scholarly mentorship under eminent jurist Shaykh Khalid Saifullah Rahmani. Alongside his traditional studies, he pursued modern academic qualifications, earning a bachelor's degree from Maulana Azad National Urdu University, a master's degree in modern Arabic from the University of Madras, and a Diploma in Research Methodology from Imam al-Da'wah Academy (affiliated with Umm al-Qura University, Makkah).
His teaching career spans multiple countries and educational contexts. He has served in academic and teaching roles in India, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, teaching subjects such as Usul al-fiqh, Fiqh al-mu'amalat, Hadith studies, Qur'anic exegesis, Arabic grammar, Arabic composition, and contemporary Islamic thought. His courses have included classical texts such as Mishkat al-Masabih, al-Hidayah, and Sharh al-Wiqayah, alongside modern curricula used in international educational systems in the Gulf region.
In addition to his teaching, Mr. Razi Qasmi maintains an active record of scholarly writing and translation. He is the author or translator of several books in Urdu and Arabic, including works on Islamic family law, Qur'anic studies, and Islamic intellectual engagement with contemporary issues. His publications include studies such as Faskh wa Tafriq (on dissolution of marriage in Islamic law), Al-Naskh fi al-Qur'an al-Karim wa Daf' al-Shubuhat al-Mutharah Hawlahu, and translations of significant contemporary Islamic scholarship. Beyond these books, he has authored more than 150 scholarly and intellectual articles in Arabic and Urdu journals, newspapers, and academic forums.
Mr. Razi Qasmi has participated in numerous international academic seminars and conferences across Asia and the Middle East, contributing to scholarly discussions on jurisprudence, Islamic education, and contemporary social issues. He is also a member of the International Union of Arabic Language.
He is a multilingual scholar, working comfortably in Arabic, Urdu, English, and Hindi, with reading competence in Persian. His academic work seeks to bridge classical Islamic scholarship with contemporary intellectual inquiry, emphasizing methodological clarity, textual fidelity, and relevance to modern ethical and social questions.
In addition to his academic and scholarly pursuits, Mohammad Raziur Rahman Qasmi is also a Hafiz of the Holy Qur'an. He completed the memorization of the Qur'an during his early religious education and continues to maintain a strong engagement with Qur'anic recitation and study. He is known for his clear and melodious recitation, reflecting both precision in tajwid and a deep reverence for the Qur'anic tradition.
